A mile and a half underwater, a remote control submersible’s camera has captured an eerie surprise: an alien-like, long-armed, and—strangest of all—”elbowed” Magnapinna squid.
The video clip shows the screen of the ROV’s (from a Shell oil company - remotely operated vehicle) guidance monitor framed with pulsing inputs of time and positioning data.
In a few seconds of jerky camerawork, the squid appears with its huge fins waving like elephant ears and its remarkable arms and tentacles trailing from elbow-like appendages.
Despite the squid’s apparent unflappability on camera, Magnapinna, or “big fin,” squid remain largely a mystery to science.
ROVs have filmed Magnapinna squid a dozen or so times in the Gulf and the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans.
The recent video marks the first sighting of a Magnapinna at an oil development, though experts don’t think the squid’s presence there has any special scientific significance.
But the video is evidence of how, as oil- and gas-industry ROVs dive deeper and stay down longer, they are yielding valuable footage of deep-sea animals.
Some marine biologists have even formed formal partnerships with oil companies, allowing scientists to share camera time on the corporate ROVs—though critics worry about possible conflicts of interest.
Looking awesome.
Reminds me of Tripods.

It seems that coffee, like most things in life, is fine in moderation. It only becomes a problem when people can’t seem to wrap their minds around the idea of what moderation actually means. Some studies even say the more you drink the better, and almost all studies have shown that there are many more benefits than dangers to a lot of coffee drinking. There are some interesting facts about coffee, though, that we bet you didn’t know. Here are just a few of them.

Some people have nice and quite lifes. We get up in the morning, drink our coffee or tea, eat a croissant and go to work. We surf on the web for information, for amusing stuff, we meet people and make friends. We live our life with care.
Let’s try to open our eyes and see the truth. The hole picture is not so shine and britte. The world is sick and so are we.

The photo was taken when a little penguin hit in the mouth of a sea lion.

A baby penguin, the Adelie species, which measures 70 centimeters in height and has only 5 kg, was settled without the slightest problem in the mouth of a sea lion, which weights 500 kg.
After the photo we don’t know what was the fate of little Adelie penguin.

At first glance it appears to be the bark of a tree, but look a little closer and you will spot a beak, razor-sharp talons and a pair of feathery ears.
This is an African Scops owl resting on the branch of a camelthorn tree in Namibia.
It doesn’t need its camouflage when hunting insects and spiders at night.

Cindy is known as one of the five original supermodels, along with Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Linda Evangelista. She was the inspiration for Prince’s song “Cindy C.” A 1997 Shape magazine survey of 4,000 picked her as the second (after Demi Moore) most beautiful woman in the world.
Some of her quotes:
- Even I don’t wake up looking like Cindy Crawford.
- My breasts are beautiful, and I gotta tell you, they’ve gotten a lot of attention for what is relatively short screen time.
- It’s a huge change for your body. You don’t even want to look in the mirror after you’ve had a baby, because your stomach is just hanging there like a Shar-Pei.
- I always knew I wanted to have children.
- Our sex life has been ruined since the arrival of our first baby. We can’t be so spontaneous because we don’t want the nanny to hear us. We can’t scream and yell like we used to.
